All USAW - MWA tournaments will require wrestlers to have an active USAW card, limited folkstyle memberships are $20. If you do not have it you will need to purchase it here before you can complete your registration. Any issues with membership should be sent to membership@usawmwa.org .

Coaches are encouraged to do a skin check on their wrestlers before each tournament.   Skin Checks will be done at weigh-ins.   Official doctor’s notes are required at weigh-in for questionable skin and/or health conditions.  MWA officials may exclude wrestlers from wrestling if there are skin and /or health-related concerns.

Coaches:

You must be a USAW Wrestling Leader to get a coaching band. You must have a coach’s band to be in the corner of a wrestling mat and/or enter areas designated for coaches.   There will be no more than two coaches in the corner at any time.   Teams warned more than two times for that day would have team points deducted for each additional violation.   No Exceptions!  Coaches must follow MWA rules for team scoring.  If a wrestler does not qualify to earn points for your program , you must disclose the wrestler and they cannot score points for your program.   This rule is only for calculating team standings. Violations of this rule may lead to a loss of your team award and/or a reduction in standings.

Wrestlers:

All wrestlers must stay in their designated warm-up area or in the stands while the tournament is in session.  During live wrestling, wrestlers must not be on the mats unless called for their bout because they are wrestling next.

MATCH RULES AND OVERTIME: We will follow 2023-24 NFHS  rules including those for overtime and take downs going out of bounds, with the following exception: At the U6-U10 State Tournament and Big East - All locking hands will be penalized with 1pt. No warning and no DQ for offending locking hand violations.

Athlete Eligibility :
All athlete must be with in the age range for their respective divisions. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Any mis-representations of age will result in disqualification and potential multiple year suspension.

Athletes who are wrestling for a HS team and are age eligible must fill out a form declaring your HS competition level. Forms can be found here. Any athlete who places at a MIAA HS section is not eligible to compete in the MWA post season, regardless of the season this placement occurred in. The ONLY exception to this is if the athlete did not win any matches for this placement. For example placing 4th in a 4 person bracket or placing 6th in a 6 person bracket.  

Team Scoring:

• Any team or club must be a USAW chartered organization to score. 

• Mass residence only

• If a given program draws from more than one town, and it’s not a regional school district or a recognized co-op from MIAA, then the program is considered a club.

• Clubs may choose to split into respective “town” and score individually

• Athletes who wrestle for a program that is not a usaw chartered organization or athletes who don’t have a town program may still compete in the tournament as an independent. They would not be eligible to
  participate in team scoring

Parents: 

Parents must stay in the stands and outside of areas designated for coaches and competing wrestlers.   Please keep the first row of the stands open for wrestlers and coaches. If you are, videotaping you must have permission from the tournament director and be restricted to areas designated for videography.

1. USAW Sanctioned Events will be listed on the calendar and will get a detailed about page along with the MWA hosted events.
2. Non-USAW sanctioned events will be listed in a list of other local tournaments. Please submit Here to get your tournament listed.
